In all variants of the Mitsubishi Lancer, driver and front passenger will be kept safe in the event of a collision by the dual stage SRS airbags and the driver-side knee airbag. This safety goes to another level in the VR and VRX models, which also feature side and curtain airbags. Mitsubishi’s RISE bodyshell technology acts to absorb impact and create a reinforced defence around the cabin, protecting occupants from the shock of impact. Pretensioned force-limited front seatbelts also do their thing to keep you safe when you’re buckled. All five seats come with height adjustable head restraints to prevent whiplash.
Of course, it’s the active safety features that are responsible for keeping you out of a crash in the first place, and the Mitsubishi Lancer isn’t found wanting here. The Active Traction Control and Active Stability Control ensure that the Mitsubishi Lancer sticks to the road like glue, even in the tightest of turns, while the ABS brakes with EBD and Brake Assist also come as standard in all models. Always keep your driving legal to minimise your risk of collisions and/or loss of control. The Mitsubishi Lancer is a sporty-looking vehicle, so you may find yourself being challenged at the lights to a race. Resist the temptation – chances are the Mitsubishi Lancer will win, anyway.
